Accessible by train, foot or cycle, Birkhill is\u00a0situated in\u00a0a peaceful rural setting close to the river Avon, and is a great place to spend a few hours relaxing, walking or taking in a picnic or just watching the day go by. Deer are sometimes spotted walking across the railway tracks disappearing into the fields and woods. Birds of prey and pheasants can\u00a0often be\u00a0heard\u00a0calling out in there own earie way.<\/p>\n

Late April early May is a great time\u00a0to see a mass of Blue bells at the south end of the station and in the woods close by too.<\/p>\n

In the main station room there is a\u00a0 small\u00a0exhibition area that describes how the clay was formed many years ago and a pictorial history of the near by Fireclay Mine was developed and operated and then became a visitor’s centre in its own right up until 2013 when it was closed.<\/p>\n
